Dr Andrea Tosato is an Associate Professor in Commercial Law at the School of Law of the University of Nottingham and an adjunct lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He read Law at the University of Pavia (Italy) before pursuing graduate studies at the University of Cambridge, receiving his LLM in 2008. He subsequently returned to the University of Pavia, and obtained his PhD in 2010. Prior to joining the University of Nottingham, he held academic posts at the University of Pavia, the University of Florence and Bournemouth University; he was a visiting researcher at King's College London, the University of Chicago and the University of Pennsylvania.

Since 2008, Dr Tosato has served as one of Italy's three delegates to the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UN-CITRAL) Working Group VI (Security Interests), representing the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the negotiations for the UN-CITRAL Legislative Guide on Secured Transactions: Supplement on Security Rights in Intellectual Property (2010), the Model Law on Secured Transactions (2016), the Guide to Enactment (2017) and the Practice Guide (2019).

Dr Tosato's research has been published in leading law journals, including the Oxford Journal of Legal Studies, Law & Contemporary Problems, the European Law Journal, and the Lloyd's Maritime and Commercial Law Quarterly.
