Dr Andrea Tosato read Law at the University of Pavia (Italy) before pursuing graduate studies at the University of Cambridge, receiving his LLM in 2008. He subsequently returned to the University of Pavia, and obtained his PhD in 2010. The following year, he joined Bournemouth University as a Lecturer in Law, and was later appointed as Co-Director of the Centre for Intellectual Property Policy and Management. Dr Andrea Tosato joined the School of Law as a Lecturer in 2013, following a period as a visiting research fellow at King's College, London. He has also served as a visiting lecturer at the universities of Florence and Pavia.
Dr Andrea Tosato serves as an advisor to the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in matters of international intellectual property and international commercial law. In this capacity, he has been a member of Italy's delegation to UNCITRAL Working Group VI (Security Interests) since 2008. He was admitted to the Italian bar in 2011, and is a fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce.
