Marie Skłodowska-Curie Early Stage Researcher,
Simon is an Early Stage Researcher and PhD Student at the School of Law since October 2017. He is part of the MSCA (EU)-funded Innovative Training Network EUTIP (European Union Trade and Investment Policy).
He obtained a BSc in Political Science and an MSc in International Relations from the University of Ghent, Belgium. His Masters dissertation focused on the climate strategies of Big Oil companies.
Simon is supervised by Professor Mary Footer and Assistant Professor Qianlan Wu.

Simon's research interests are the energy policy and law of the European Union, with a particular focus on the external aspects thereof. His PhD project focuses on the evolution of the external energy policy of the EU, in both discourse and practice, and wants to gain a deeper insight into the interplay between the material world and ideas, and how both affect policy outcomes.
