New Library Self-service and security gates

We will be installing new Library Self-service and security gates across all of our library sites during June and early July.

Our new Security gates will make library resources even safer, and our new machines mean it will be faster and easier for students and staff to borrow or return books:

  • Flat surface on which to place books

  • Technology which allows processing of multiple books at once

  • Preferred language options

  • Automatic e-receipts to reduce paper waste

  • Self-service machines on levels 3 and 4 in Hallward – so staff and students won’t have to go downstairs to borrow or return items

  • And did we mention they look great?!

There will be some disruption to our libraries while we make these changes. To reduce the impact on our library users, we will be carrying out this work after exams and over the summer vacation. For those who will still be using the library during this time, installation of the new Security gates and Self-service machines is due to take place over the following key dates:

Hallward: 17 – 18 June

Denis Arnold: 19 June

Greenfield Medical: 20 June

Business Library: 21 June

George Green: 24 – 26 June

James Cameron-Gifford: 27 June

Djanogly Learning Resource Centre: 1 - 3 July
