We’re excited to say that our libraries are changing. We have several renovation projects in the works this summer that will improve our spaces.
We apologise for any disruption that these projects may cause. If you have any questions, please contact the Library Helpline via phone, email or Live Chat.
George Green Library
From 25 - 29 July, DTS will be refurbishing the PCs in A13 and on Floors C and E. Alternative PCs can be found on B and D floors including the B floor language labs.
Hallward Library
Over the summer, Estates will be carrying out various maintenance work in the library, including:
- From Thursday 21 July - Electrical inspection and testing underway. Please note there may be some occasional short disruptions to power and lighting circuits.
Assistive Technology Rooms
Over the summer, we will be creating new Assistive Technology Rooms at Hallward (LG123), James Cameron-Gifford (A540) and Djanogly LRC (C504) Libraries.
We will also be upgrading the ATR software and hardware as part of this programme. Our aim is to provide a better experience for disabled students who are referred as eligible to use the rooms by Disability Support.
James Cameron-Gifford Library
Over the summer we will be refurbishing the B floor group study space at James Cameron-Gifford Library. with booths as well as open plan group study tables and lounge chairs. All changes have been carefully considered from the feedback students have provided.
From 18 June, work will also be underway to replace the roof coverings at James Cameron-Gifford Library. It is estimated that this work will take six weeks. We expect this work to provide minimal disruption and the library will remain open throughout this time.
Djanogly Learning Resource Centre
Group study rooms at Djanogly LRC will be refurbished over the summer with freshly painted walls, new carpets, improved access to power and new furniture.
Business Library
Estates are managing a couple building projects that will improve facilities at Business Library, however, this will mean some disruption over the summer.
From Thursday 21 July, new air cooling units will be installed in the library. This may cause noise disruption and reduced access to some study space.
Access to the lift
The lift at Business School South will be closed from 20 June to 19 September for renovation. The library will remain open throughout the summer (including study space and Click and Collect) and can still be accessed via the stairs at the main entrance on A Floor.
Due to the work taking place there may be noise disruption at times.
Access to resources
For staff and students who are unable to use the stairs and need to access resources from Business Library, an on-demand book collection service is available.
- Place a request on NUsearch and select 'Business Library' as the collection location
- Wait for your confirmation email before visiting the library
- When arriving at Business School South, call 0115 84 68065 and a member of staff will bring your books directly to you
This on-demand service will operate during library opening hours until 9pm Monday - Friday, and 4pm Saturday - Sunday.
Returns can be made through the ground floor 24/7 book box.
Alternative study spaces
Alternative study spaces can be found at Djanogly LRC or the Exchange Building.
Conferencing use of the Exchange Building means alternative space on the ground floor may not always be accessible.
