Visiting your libraries 

Libraries will be in vacation opening hours for the Easter break from Friday 29 March - Monday 29 April. Please check the individual library pages for opening times before your visit.

Hallward Library and George Green Library cafes will be closed for the Easter Break, reopening at the beginning of Summer term. Student kitchens will remain open during this time. 

Three libraries will be open for Easter Weekend and all others will be closed, from Friday 29 March - Tuesday 2 April.

Access to resources

Whilst our libraries are closed, you can still access our online resources, including ebooks, ejournals, academic skills resources, help guides and more.

Our library staff are here to make sure you have access to the resources you need. Contact us by email, phone or live chat and we'll help you get ready for the break.

Your library loans

  • Please cancel any book reservations you no longer need if you are leaving campus for the vacation. You can do this on NUsearch.
  • Any books on loan may be requested and will be due back within seven working days. Return books to any open library or by post to Hallward Library.
  • We will email you to let you know when you need to return your books, so please check regularly.
  • There will be a £1 a day charge for late returns up to a maximum of £10 per item.
  • Our library staff can help you to cancel any reservations you no longer need. Contact us by email, phone or live chat.

Visiting libraries

  • Check the opening times for your library.
  • If you want to visit a library at another university during the break, you can check whether they are participating in the SCONUL Access scheme. Please submit your application as soon as possible.

Your library loans

  • Borrow any books you will need during the break from our libraries and collect any requests before you leave or we close.
  • Return books you no longer need to the book boxes or self-service machines at any of our libraries. This will help us to make these available to others.
  • If you have requested books that aren’t yet available, please cancel the request on NUsearch. Any books on loan can be requested by others and books will be due back within seven working days.
  • Check NUsearch for details of your loans, requests and fines.
