Visiting libraries

Are your libraries open?

Our eight libraries closed on Friday 20 March including Greenfield Medical Library based in the Medical School at Queens Medical Centre.

We will share any updates about re-opening on social media and the University’s Coronavirus hub.

Whilst our libraries are closed all NUH staff can access our online resources.

Your library loans

Do we need to return our books?

No you don't need to return your books at the moment.

Our staff are cancelling any current reservations so your library loans will continue to auto-renew.

Given the exceptional circumstances, fines will be waived during this period.

Please ignore any emails asking you to return your library books. Your books will only be due back if someone else requests them after we re-open.

Can I still request books?

Whilst our libraries are closed, we are unable to process book reservations.

Any requests that are submitted will be cancelled until the library buildings are open again.

You may be able to access an ebook version, please check with NUH LIbrary Services.

My Interlibrary loan (ILL) is due for return soon, how do I renew it?

Please email library@nuh.nhs.uk and staff will renew it for you.

You are not expected to return any books until we re-open and there will be no fines.

I received an email that I need to bring a book back or I will be fined?

If you receive an email asking you to return your item, please ignore this for now.

Given the exceptional circumstances fines will be waived during this period.
