George Kenyon, 2nd Baron Kenyon (1776-1855)

Keynon was the second son of the 1st Baron Kenyon. His elder brother died in 1801, so Kenyon succeeded his father in 1802.

He is best known for his vehement opposition to Catholic emancipation. He became a member of the Orange Order in 1808, and was the author of Observations on the Roman Catholic Question, published in 1810.

Kenyon was at the heart of the campaign against the proposed Catholic emancipation in the late 1820s, and continued to be active on Protestant issues until the probity of the Orange Order was called into question in 1836.
