The School of Mathematical Sciences encourages students who have graduated to keep in contact and become actively involved in the on-going development of a maths alumni community.Whether you are a recent graduate or not we hope that you’ll be interested in helping us develop our alumni.
We hope to:
- develop the relationship between the school and its alumni, and also amongst the alumni themselves
- raise awareness of developments and projects within the school
- provide links between current students and alumni
How to get involved
There are several ways of how you can get involved as an alumni of the School of Mathematical Sciences. Please see below for some examples and feel free to contact us to discuss any ideas.
The University has a website for Nottingham alumni. You can log-on and catch up with old friends, find out about events in your region, continuing education opportunities, receive a Nottingham email for life and find out more about how you can get involved. You will also be sent alumni publications and invitations to reunions and events in Nottingham, the UK and world-wide.
Provide an alumni profile
We are always looking for profiles which provide information about your course and time at Nottingham or your career progression since graduating. Please contact us if you would be willing to be featured in a student profile on our school website and in related marketing materials.
Organise an event
You can use the alumni webpages to set up a regional network or organise an alumni event.
Work placements and internships
Please help us to identify work placement opportunities/internships for current students and new graduates and contact us if you are able to offer a work placement or internship.
Would you be able to mentor a current student or recent graduate. Please contact us if you are able to offer mentoring opportunities.
We hope that the alumni webpages will help alumni and the school develop friend and supporter networks, business links and knowledge transfer opportunities.
Simply keep in touch!
Please encourage your friends and class mates to get involved and keep us up to date with any changes of address/contact details via the alumni website. Please also let us know if there are subjects you would like to hear more about or receive information on.
Continuing Professional Development
It doesn't matter how long ago you graduated, you may wish to come back to University either to pursue a postgraduate qualification or to attend the odd public lecture or research seminar. If you would like to attend an event in the School, do let us know, we would love to have the opportunity to welcome you back and can add you to our circulation list for public lectures.
If you are thinking about a postgraduate qualification please contact the Postgraduate Administrator to find out more about the courses and any funding that may be available.
