Division of Psychiatry and Applied Psychology

We're an interdisciplinary group of psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, forensic psychologists, neuropsychologists, occupational psychologists and health psychologists. Based within the Institute of Mental Health, we enjoy close links with Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.

We carry out internationally competitive and locally relevant applied research and deliver innovative teaching at undergraduate, Masters and doctoral level.

We conduct high quality research that:

  • enhances our understanding of the causes, mechanisms and treatment of mental disorder and criminal offending across the lifespan
  • promotes individual and organisational health and wellbeing
  • improves policies, systems and the delivery of services in order to achieve these goals.

In addition to our contribution to undergraduate medicine, we offer popular professional doctorates in clinical and forensic psychology. We also offer Masters degrees in mental health research, occupational psychology, workplace health and wellbeing, and criminological psychology.
