Biography

I am clinician, academician and researcher in the field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation.

I completed training in physiotherapy in Jordan in 1977 and subsequently developed my clinical career becoming head of the physiotherapy department. I completed a BSc in Physiotherapy at Queen Margaret University College, Edinburgh in 1996, my MSc in Physiotherapy at the The University of East London, and my Ph.D. at the University of Brighton in 2002.

I subsequently held academic posts in Jordan (University for Science and Technology, and Hashemite University), the Universities of East Anglia and Bournemouth in the UK, Nepal, and the University of Hail, Saudi Arabia, before becoming Professor at the King Saud bin Abdul-Aziz University for Health Sciences, Saudi Arabia in 2012.

Since I joined the University of Nottingham in 2019, my research is part of the Complex Intervention Research Area of the Musculoskeletal Theme of the NIHR Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre, developing and evaluating translational therapeutic innovations for sarcopenia.

Expertise Summary

My areas of research expertise include, research in clinical settings, both hospital, community, research involving mixed research methods, and in the last 20 years, I was engaged in research activities with collaborators from USA, Sweden and UK. In these projects, my responsibilities include, subjects and researchers recruitments, organize data, organize research workshops and seminars, manage the projects budget and disseminate the research outcomes in scientific journals and conferences.

Frail older people, traumatic brain injury community rehabilitation, falls prevention in care homes and constraint-induced movement therapy for adult stroke and children with disabilities.
