Division of Respiratory Medicine
We are a large respiratory research group with research programmes in:
- obstructive lung diseases (Asthma/COPD)
- fibrotic lung diseases (IPF, LAM)
- infective lung diseases (cystic fibrosis, pneumonia).
Our research focuses on genetics, pharmacogenetics, molecular pathophysiology, translational research (including biomarkers and imaging) and clinical trials. We have a broad portfolio of research funding from MRC, BBSRC, NC3Rs, Wellcome and other charities, EU and industry.
We have close links on respiratory themes with researchers within other research groupings in Nottingham such as:
- epidemiology
- molecular microbiology
- drug discovery
- allergy
- immunology
- child health
We are part of several major national and international collaborations working closely with major academic institutions and industry including:
- MRCMAP COPD
- NIHR TRP in inflammatory diseases
- UBIOPRED IMI consortia
We also host the National Centre for research into lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM).
