A cross-Faculty online FutureLearn course 'Developing Expert Educators for Healthcare Professions' is now open for enrolment, starting on Monday 2 September 2019.

The course is led by Dr Rakesh Patel and co-developed by Dr Nicola Cooper (School of Medicine), along with Gill Langmack, Professor Heather Wharrad, Zoe Tilley and Traci Hudson (School of Health Sciences).

All are welcome to join this 6 week free online course. It is aimed at any healthcare professionals teaching in practice and work in, or have an interest in, delivering formal or informal education.

In this course, you will explore the philosophy and practice of education to become an expert educator in the healthcare professions.

You will identify and apply the fundamentals of education to the healthcare professions. You will use the latest evidence around self-regulated learning to explore the psychology of motivation, and consider the sociological aspects of teaching in small groups.

By connecting to a global network of multi-professional educators in healthcare, you will gain new perspectives on your teaching and values as a teacher, and be encouraged to share your teaching experiences with others. You will also be empowered to begin making evidence-based improvements to your teaching in the future.
