My research interests are on the psychological effects of long term health conditions.
PhD Working Title - Exploring the use of online support/health information groups for adolescents with type 1 diabetes and parents of adolescents with type 1 diabetes during the transition from paediatric to adult diabetes services.
Objective of the research -
Explore Internet use, needs and expectations regarding online health information and communication in young people with type 1 diabetes in transition clinics and parents of this cohort.
To consider how individuals (patient and parent) seek out, interpret and relate to other people's experiences of type 1 diabetes in online environments (in comparison to face to face encounters) and the consequences of this; including implications this may have for patients health, well-being and quality of life.
I completed my MSc in Health Psychology at Coventry University where my dissertation entitled 'Osteoporosis and Protection Motivation Theory: What Will Persuade Women to Exercise on a Regular Basis?' was supervised by Professor Louise Wallace.
I have held a number of research positions and worked on projects sponsored by The Multiple Sclerosis Society with Professor Julie Barlow and the Higher Education Academy, Health Sciences and Practice ( HEA HSaP) Subject Centre with Dr Pam Moule.
