PhD Student, Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences
I am a PhD student in the School of Medicine, Division of Rehabilitation and Ageing, funded by the Joan Browne Legacy Scholarship. I graduated from the University of Wolverhampton in 2017 with a BSc (Hons) Degree in Psychology. In 2016, I was awarded a British Psychological Society (BPS) 'Undergraduate Research Assistantship' award, which allowed me to conduct research, under the supervision of Dr Darren Chadwick. The title of our project was 'Online support group use and psychological wellbeing of family carers of people with intellectual disabilities.' My final year undergraduate project also focused on online support group use.
My PhD project is a feasibility study, which concerns themes surrounding dental anxiety/phobia, social support and online support groups. I am supervised by Dr Heather Buchanan and Professor Neil Coulson. Further interests include the use of internet mediated communication for the promotion of health and wellbeing, online internet research, online behaviours, social media usage, qualitative methodologies, psychodynamic theories and attachment theory.
