NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer in Gastroenterology

Expertise Summary

Clinical trials in advanced chronic liver disease of any aetiology. My particular interest is risk stratifying patients such as using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to characterise patients with chronic liver disease and evaluate the effect of interventions. Specialist interests are in;

  • Compensated advanced chronic liver disease
  • Portal hypertension
  • Gut permeability
  • Infections in cirrhosis
  • Multi-organ components of the hyperdynamic circulation
  • Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) detection and screening
  • Involving patients and other stakeholders in the design and outputs of clinical research
