GroupAim
Anaesthesia and Critical Care

Has diverse research interests linked by a common purpose of improving outcomes for patients cared for in the operating theatre or intensive care.

Biomaterials Related Infection To investigate the causes and mechanisms of surgical infection, particularly that involving implantable devices, so as to advance treatment of such infections and particularly their prevention.
Centre of Evidence Based Dermatology Conducts independent research into the treatment and prevention of skin disease that is of direct relevance to patients, clinicians and NHS managers.
Centre for Evidence Based Hand Surgery To undertake research into common hand conditions of direct relevance to patients, clinicians and the NHS.
Centre for Sport, Exercise and Osteoarthritis Research To improve the understanding of the effects of sport and exercise on joint health and osteoarthritis and help create plans for prevention, assessment, and treatment of injuries aimed at reducing the risk of later osteoarthritis.
Clinical, Metabolic and Molecular Physiology To uncover the mechanisms regulating alterations in protein and energy metabolism with ageing and disease.
Harmonising Outcome Measures for Eczema To develop a consensus-based core outcome set (COS) for clinical trials and clinical practice with regards to eczema.
Long Term Conditions To promote wellbeing and enable people with long term conditions to maximise participation in meaningful social lives.
Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre Focuses on understanding the mechanisms of frailty, chronic musculoskeletal diseases and their symptoms, and using this understanding to develop, personalise and evaluate novel treatments.
Orthopaedics and Trauma research To pursue international excellence in multidisciplinary, translational research, to enhance understanding of arthritis pain, bone and joint injury and repair, novel biomaterials and methods of delivering antimicrobials to improve patient care.
Osteoarthritis and Crystal Arthritis To understand the epidemiological and genetic aspects of osteoarthritis and crystal deposition in order to develop better management and treatment.
Pain Centre Versus Arthritis Investigates the mechanisms that lead to the chronic pain experienced by sufferers of arthritis, in order to improve the treatment of that pain.
