Senior Trial Manager, Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences
I have worked for the Nottingham Clinical Trials Research Unit (NCTU) since May 2014 in the capacity of Trial Manager and then Senior Trial Manager. I now oversee a number of trials with a particular interest in mental health (dementia), rehabilitation medicine and hand surgery.
Prior to joining the NCTU I worked for the Sheffield Clinical Trials Research Unit (CTRU) where I managed several trials. These included an MRC programme grant evaluating an occupational therapy based psycho-social intervention for older people called Lifestyle Matters. This involved a randomised controlled trial to evaluate clinical and cost effectiveness as well as several feasibility studies in populations including people with early diagnosis dementia and mild to moderate depression. I also managed an NHIR HTA funded RCT and economic evaluation of hypertonic saline in acute bronchiolitis in babies (SABRE). Prior to joining the CTRU I worked for the Healthcare Innovation and Technology Evaluation Centre (HITEC) based at Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust where I carried out systematic reviews, evidence reviews and technical evaluations of assistive technologies and medical devices for a number of commissioners. These included the Centre for Evidence-based Purchasing (CEP) part of the Purchasing and Supply Chain (PASA) and the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE).
Journeying through Dementia, Co-applicant on a £2m NIHR HTA CET Open Call to deliver an RCT of clinical and cost effectiveness (Dec 2015 - Feb 2019).
