Hello My Name is Tom This resource gives an insight into the world of a young person with an Autistic Spectrum disorder (ASD). It concentrates on interaction with Tom, a young person with ASD, within the school environment. The RLO was created by a learning disability nursing student based on his interaction with a number of individuals with ASD. This RLO won the 2009 Fiona Law prize for student-led innovation awarded by the National Network of Learning Disability Nursing. This resource was re-purposed in 2016. Little Things Make a Big Difference This RLO is based around an interaction between a healthcare professional and a client with learning disabilities. It shows how important even small aspects of communication are in formulating a positive interaction. View further information on this RLO.
My House, My Rights This package takes an interactive journey through the house of an individual with learning disabilities. In each room the learner is challenged by some of the ways that the rights of individuals with LD are often disregarded by HCPs within their own homes. View further information on this RLO.
Our Child This e-learning package is designed to empower parents who have a child with Down's syndrome and who are facing congenital heart surgery. Responses to Sexuality This RLO is based on a scenario which involves the expressions of sexuality by John, a man with learning disabilities. It looks at John's responses, views and feelings and compares them with those of his health care worker. It challenges the learner to review their own views to these issues. This is Steve This RLO shows the sort of information that someone with a learning disability might want carers to know before they come to care for them. It is written from the perspective of a service user with the help of a student nurse. View further information on this RLO.
