Biography

I am a Research Fellow working on the BRIGhTMIND clinical trial in treatment-resistant depression comparing standard rTMS vs. connectivity-guided theta-burst TMS (see here for info). I previously worked within the Arthritis UK Pain Centre. Prior to attaining my MSc and PhD at the University of Nottingham I studied BSc Medical Sciences at the University of Leeds.

Expertise Summary

My research interests are in using neuroimaging to better understand the central (brain-based) components underlying chronic pain. Specifically, I am interested in the measure of brain connectivity and metabolism and how that relates to chronic pain states.

My current work within the BRIGhTMIND trial focusses on the mechanistic effect of TMS in treatment-resistant depression utilising multimodal MRI (functional, diffusion and structural MRI plus MR spectroscopy).

My previous work within the Arthritis Research UK Pain Centre looked at phenotyping and longitudinal assessments of people with chronic knee osteoarthritis pain with a specific focus on the effect of chronic pain and functional brain activity as measured via BOLD and ASL MRI.
