Nottingham element: Djanogly

Sir Harry Djanogly is a successful textile manufacturer, businessman and philanthropist. The Djanogly family have contributed to founding many venues in Nottingham including: the Djanogly City Academy, Djanogly Community Leisure Centre, Djanogly Community Orchestra, Djanogly Recital Hall, Djanogly Theatre, and the Djanogly Gallery.

Sir Harry and Lady Djanogly have also been recognised by the University of Nottingham as part of the College of Benefactors.

Scientific element: Dysprosium

Dysprosium is a rare earth element with a metallic silver lustre.

It is used in permanent magnets due to its paramagnetic strength and high-temperature durability.

Dysprosium metal will react with cold water and rapidly dissolves in contact with acids.
