Fluorine

Nottingham element: Forest

Nottingham Forest Football Club, just known as Forest was founded in 1865. The Reds or Tricky Trees play at the City Ground in West Bridgford and have achieved huge success including twice winning the European Cup under legendary manager Brian Clough.

Many Forest players have also played for England including: Stuart Pearce, Des Walker, Peter Shilton and Trevor Francis.

As well as Nottingham Forest, Nottingham also has the Forest Recreation Ground which is the venue each October for the world-famous Goose Fair.

The most reactive element in the periodic table

Despite the difficult and sometimes explosive properties of fluorine, it is a vital element for humans and animals, which is why it is commonly found in drinking water and toothpaste.

Flourine is potentially dangerous and too much can cause osteoporosis or tooth decay, as well has potentially harming the kidneys, nerves, and muscles.
