Genetics research opportunities

The School of Life Sciences offers research expertise across a wealth of disciplines including biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, ecology, genetics, immunology, microbiology, molecular medicine, pharmacology and physiology. This large critical mass of researchers encourages interdisciplinary research and offers a productive environment for postgraduate training as reflected in our excellent reputation. We were ranked 9th in the UK for research power in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF).

Research Environment

The school’s academics have extensive interactions with colleagues throughout the University and across the world, permitting a multidisciplinary and frequently international approach to research. The school hosts several specialist research facilities (including Deep Sequencing, fluorescence imaging and high throughput screening) to underpin research of the highest quality.
