A thriving and dynamic centre for study, the School of Politics and International Relations was rated in the UK top 15 for research power in the latest Research Excellence Framework.

The school is situated in the Law and Social Sciences building, at the heart of one of the most attractive campus universities in the UK. Students from all parts of the world enrol on our wide range of courses.

Excellence and achievement in research and teaching are our priorities. Our chief research strengths lie in security, social and global justice, contemporary political theory, international history, comparative politics, and British politics.

The school has a reputation for outstanding research, and our staff are internationally recognised experts who regularly publish in leading academic and university presses, and between them edit several leading academic journals.

The school encourages and cultivates collaborative work which over the years has led to the development of a number of research centres and institutes.
