Biography

I graduated from the Faculty of Basic Medical Science, Omdurman Islamic University, Sudan, with a B.Sc. in Microbiology. I then did my M.Sc. (by research) at the University of Khartoum in 2011. After being awarded a scholarship from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), I came, in 2014, to the University of Nottingham, School of Pharmacy as a PhD student. My area of specialization is Nanomedicine.

Research Summary

Supervisors: Dr Franco H. Falcone (50%), Dr Snow Stolnik (50%)

The integration of microbiology with nanotechnology and medicine is expected to produce major advances in molecular diagnostics, therapeutics, molecular biology, and bioengineering. Recent advances have led to the development of functional nanoparticles (electronic, optical, magnetic, or structural) that are covalently linked to biological molecules such as peptides, proteins, and nucleic acids. My PhD project aims to design biomimetic nanoparticles, study their cellular interactions, and deliver a therapeutic antibiotic for treatment of some infectious agents.
