I obtained a General Medicine degree from Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City (Class of 2009-2015). During my studies I worked as a medical intern and a junior doctor in both private and public hospitals.
In 2014 I was awarded the second prize in the Case Report session at the Interamerican Pediatrics Congress held at Mexico City for the work "Actinomyces Sp. Paravertebral abscess: An atypical Case Presentation".
In 2016 I obtained a MSc. in Infection Biology with the Virology specialism from the University of Glasgow. For my masters project I worked with Prof. Ruth Jarrett's group, focusing on the inherited chromosomally integrated version of Human Herpes Virus 6.
I was granted a Scholarship from CONACYT (period 2017/2021) for my PhD studies at the University of Nottingham.

My PhD project focuses on the effective delivery of antiretroviral drugs in a post exposure prophylaxis scenario using vaginal and rectal drug delivery systems. Our approach involves the use of nanoparticles in these localized tissues. We will use both in vivo and in vitro experiments to further evaluate the efficacy of this approach. I am under the supervervison of Dr. Pavel Gershkovich, Prof. Peter Fischer and Dr Cameron Alexander.
