Leonardo Baldassarre

Research Fellow, Faculty of Science

I gained my PhD from the University of Chieti in 2013 under the supervision of Prof. Francesco Pinnen. My research was focused mainly on small antimicrobial peptides and S. aureus virulence-inhibitors. During this period I also have been a visiting student at University of Cambridge in the group of Prof. David Sping. After the completion of my PhD, I spent nine months as Research Fellow at the Italian National Research Council (CNR) working on NGF-mimetic peptides, followed by three years as Research Scientist at Bicycle Therapeutics, where I contributed to the development of Bicycle Drug Conjugates® and which allowed me to broaden my expertise in drug discovery

Expertise Summary

Strong background in organic chemistry, synthesis of complex molecules, linear and cyclic peptide synthesis, design and synthesis of peptidomimetics, bioconjugation. Experienced in automated peptide synthesis, NMR techniques, chromatography, mass spectrometry, and computational chemistry.
