Postgraduate Research Student,
Lorenzo Schiazza obtained a MSc in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology at the D'Annunzio University in Chieti (Italy). He has completed a research thesis on PPAR-alpha antagonists under the supervision of Dr A. Ammazzalorso. After obtaining the professional qualification both as a Pharmacist and as a Chemist, he worked for 2 years as a pharmacist. In 2017, he completed the MSc in Drug Discovery and Pharmaceutical Sciences, obtaining a merit.
In September 2017, he joined the Center for Doctoral Training in Advanced Therapeutics and Nanomedicines. Under the supervision of Dr M. Zelzer and Dr L. Buttery, he undertook his first training project. During this project, he gained a wide range of skills, from glass surface modification to cell culture. Then he started a second training project under the supervision of Dr N. Starr and Dr D. Scurr. During this project he worked on using ToF-SIMS to analyse skin samples.
Lorenzo is currently working on his PhD project, in collaboration with Evonik industries. This project will focus on the production and characterisation of specific polymers for future use in therapy.
