Postgraduate Research Student,
Paula completed her undergraduate BSc (Hons) degree in Biology at Queen Mary University of London. Her undergraduate research project focused on investigating the spread of antibiotic resistance encoded by mecA gene in non-healthcare environments. She then undertook an MSc in Pharmacology at King's College London graduating with Distinction in September 2016. During her time there she worked at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Science investigating the delivery of warfarin, an anticoagulant agent, across the blood-brain barrier.
Following her graduation Paula worked on a publication at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Science at King's College London continuing the investigation into transporters involved in the delivery of pentamidine, an African trypanosomiasis drug across the blood-brain barrier. She then took up a position in Research & Development at Bioline in London working on the transfer of analytical procedures and assay development.
Paula joined the CDT in Advanced Therapeutics and Nanomedicines in September 2017 and during her PhD she will be working on the development of formulations for intrathecal drug delivery under the supervision of Maria Marlow.
