Akif is a PhD student at the School of Politics & International Relations and a Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Social and Global Justice (CSSGJ). He holds a BA in International Relations from the Abant Izzet Baysal University, Bolu/Turkey, an MSc in Middle East Politics from SOAS, University of London.
Akif's main expertise area is Political Economy, in particular free trade and state-capital relations. His research addresses the shift in Turkish foreign trade policy and the changing relationships between Turkish business associations and the state during the AKP era.
