Essential information on applying for ethical approval

Staff and student researchers at the University have a responsibility for ensuring that their research is conducted to the highest ethical standards.

Note: there is a separate procedure for undergraduate and postgraduate taught course (dissertation) students.

  • REC#2 - this document helps you ascertain whether your project requires full ethics review
  • REC#3 - to be completed for projects requiring full ethics review
  • REC#5 Fieldwork - to be completed if you are planning any fieldwork

Risk assessment

Please complete the 'Master Risk Assessment' form prior to any overseas trip for work or fieldwork purposes. Refer to the University's off-site working policy as appropriate.
