PRIMIS has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Leicester Diabetes Centre (LDC), a world renowned, multi-disciplinary research team who are pioneers behind important academic research and the provision of education to widen the knowledge base for diabetes health and disease management.

For the Embedding Study, which aimed to increasing uptake of effective self-management education programmes for type 2 diabetes in multi-ethnic primary care settings, PRIMIS provided searches that identified patients eligible for the study, as well as baseline and impact data throughout the duration of the project. The data output was prepared in such a way that the study team were able re-identify patients, where consent had been given.

We are currently working with colleagues from the LDC on the D-Med Study.

The D-Med Study aims to help clinical practice staff with prescribing responsibilities to reduce the proportion of potentially inappropriate diabetes medications prescribed in older people with type 2 diabetes and frailty.

This project involves the following PRIMIS services:

  • Quality Improvement
  • Research and Evaluation
  • Data Specification and Validation
