Information for IT administrators at CCGs or CSUs
CHART is a macro-enabled Microsoft Excel workbook, with associated Excel add-ins and configuration text files.
As it contains macros, macros must be enabled within the security settings for Excel.
CHART can be used with:
Each quality improvement tool comprises a set of text files and an Excel 2003 format workbook file.
CHART and the audit files are installed using Windows Installer (.msi). This enables new versions to be installed easily and also provides an uninstall mechanism. Users must have permission to run .msi files to install CHART and any of the quality improvement tools.
CHART will be installed in a folder below which all the required CHART files and quality improvement tools will be installed. This installation folder can be located anywhere on the network or local drive, but as CHART can only be run by one user at a time, it is typically installed on a local drive.
By default, the CHART and quality improvement tool .msi installers are set up to use a C:\CHART folder. This can be altered by the user. CHART will create the following folders (within its installation folder):
To run correctly, CHART requires read/write access to the folders and files within its installation folder.
The quality improvement tool installers are set up in a similar manner to use the C:\CHART folder by default. This should be the same as the installation folder chosen for CHART. Each quality improvement tool installer creates a hierarchy of folders within the CHART installation folder that contains the files pertinent to the specific quality improvement tool.
