The Asthma Care quality improvement tool has been designed to help practices to audit their clinical data helping them to optimise the management and care of patients with active asthma and reduce their risk of exacerbation and hospital admissions.
The tool will assist with case finding activity, encouraging practices to establish a more accurate prevalence rate and identify patients who may have the disease but do not have a diagnosis recorded.
This quality improvement tool has the potential to reduce the associated costs of asthma care caused by poor control and improve quality of life for patients through the reduction of everyday symptoms.
Asthma Care uses CHART software to create highly visual practice-level summaries in the form of a dashboard and practice results table, as well as providing the ability to drill down to examine detailed patient care at an individual level.

Please contact PRIMIS if you wish to discuss obtaining this tool
It is currently not possible to extract prescription information regarding the number of inhalers used but PRIMIS is working in conjunction with TPP to resolve this issue. This does not affect the Asthma Care dashboard view, but will mean some columns in the CHART datasheet remain unpopulated. Information on any resolution to this issue will be posted on this website and via our @PRIMISatUoN Twitter feed.
