We are currently undertaking the complex process of converting our tools into SNOMED CT and rewriting them as native system searches. We also put all our tools through a lengthy and robust testing and clinical safety protocol.
The following tools* are available for use (free of charge):
(*Some of these are currently undergoing review and development. Where this is the case, new versions will be released in due course).
In addition to technical updates, the following tools are undergoing a complete clinical review:
PRIMIS has experience and much success in a variety of clinical areas, as demonstrated by the list of tools below. These tools are not currently under development/sponsorship but can be brought up to current standards, rewritten in SNOMED CT or developed in different extraction methodologies.
If you are interested in talking to us about any of the following legacy tools, it may be possible for us to make them available to you.
In addition to a variety of tools made available nationally, PRIMIS has built a repertoire of smaller scale, more bespoke tools and is constantly developing tools for targeted requirements for projects such as embedding and primary care research.
CHART is a macro enabled Microsoft Excel workbook. It allows practices to undertake instant analysis of their practice population through use of the associated quality improvement tools. Data are extracted from the GP clinical information system and instantly displayed using CHART including visual dashboards and patient level datasheets that can be filtered according to need.
PRIMIS has historically used the nationally mandated MIQUEST software to perform data extractions on GP IT systems. All PRIMIS quality improvement tools within CHART now use native GP clinical system searches for both EMIS Web and TPP SystmOne.

Many of our quality improvement tools can also work with CHART Online. CHART Online is a way for practices to compare their data to others in their locality and benchmark against national data if they wish to do so. CHART Online is a secure, central database storage facility with associated online reporting and interactive display functionality, held at the University of Nottingham. Results are displayed via a web browser.
CHART Online has supported many high-profile national projects, with over 7,300 individual GP practices in England having uploaded their data to PRIMIS.
