A project led by Professor Nicola Pitchford, Anthea Gulliford, Marc Faulder, and Dr Laura Outhwaite, has been selected by the Education Endowment Foundation as one of 18 Promising Projects, following a recent efficacy trial in 112 primary schools. This project uses apps designed by onebillion to support the acquisition of basic maths skills in young children aged 3-7 years. The Nottingham team has developed implementation and training materials to ensure schools deliver the apps with fidelity. The project is being scaled in the EFFective Kent Project which is open to all primary schools in the county. The project was also highlighted in the new EEF guidance report with five recommendations to improve early maths.
