Micronutrient Action Policy Support (MAPS)

How can we develop tools to visualise the scale and distribution of micronutrient deficiencies?

Micronutrient deficiencies are a widespread global problem, especially in sub-Saharan Africa and south/southeast Asia. The scale and impact of micronutrient deficiencies are unequally distributed within nations because of geographical, socio-economic and dietary factors, and a lack of information at the sub-national level makes it hard to select potential interventions for different population groups. 

This project will develop a tool to visualise both the scale and geographic distribution of micronutrient deficiencies, and will inform which food system interventions will have the greatest impact and cost-effectiveness in different regions. The project is currently focused on work in Malawi, Ethiopia, Burkina Faso and India.
