Using genomes to better health
As the dairy industry strives to stay as sustainable and efficient as possible, what can be done to keep the livestock healthy?
Genome data to maintain health and welfare
Lead researcher: Prof James Leigh
Improving the sustainability of the dairy industry is hugely important, particularly in this era of climate change.
A project, led by colleagues in the School of Veterinary Science, and in partnership with the Centre for Dairy Science Innovation, will create a genotyped biobank of the dairy herd on our Sutton Bonington campus. The genebank will help increase efficiency in the industry, by providing important health metadata that will promote the health and welfare of our dairy cows.
