Rights Lab Research Fellow in Survivor Journeys and Support
Dr Matthew Young works as part of the Rights Lab's Health and Wellbeing Programme as a research fellow on the project "Pathways to Liberation: Revealing Survivors’ Support Journeys Outside of the UK NRM." He has a background studying the history of immigration and racism in the UK and front-line experience supporting and advocating for survivors of modern slavery and vulnerable migrants in the UK NGO sector. His research interests include the intersections between immigration policies, racism and the processes of survivor support and recovery, and the conceptualisation of modern slavery and immigration in the public imagination. He is also interested in developing methods for co-producing research alongside people with lived experience of modern slavery.
