Rights Lab Research Fellow in Fishing Vessel Safety and Labour Conditions

Dr. Vanessa Jaiteh is a Swiss National Science Foundation postdoctoral fellow with the Rights Lab’s Measurement and Geographies Programme. Her research on foreign industrial and local small-scale fisheries in West Africa’s Gulf of Guinea examines the links between fishing vessel safety and fishers’ labour conditions, including their intersections with illegal, unregulated and unreported or under-reported (IUU) fishing activity and other fisheries crime such as fish laundering, drug and weapon smuggling, and human trafficking.
