Biography

Dr Konstantinos Bacharoudis was awarded with a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (2005) and a Doctor in engineering (2014) from the department of Mechanical Engineering & Aeronautics of University of Patras, Greece. Since 2005, he was involved as a research assistant in EC funded projects (UPWIND, OPTIMAT BLADES) at the Applied Mechanics Laboratory of the Mechanical Engineering & Aeronautics of University of Patras. On August 2014, he joined the Wind Energy Department of Centre for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving (CRES) working as a research engineer in the EC funded projects IRPWIND, INNWIND.EU and WINDTRUST as well as in the national project REWIND. Since 2016, he was recruited by the University of Nottingham as a research fellow in aero-structures working at the Institute for Advanced Manufacturing in the Clean Sky 2 project ASTRAL

Current Research

Dr Konstantinos Bacharoudis focuses on the development of design for manufacturing methods and tools. Main interest is the development of cost models capable to capture different designs, fabrication processes and build philosophies of composite wing structures and enable the performance of appropriate trade-off studies.

Past Research

Dr Konstantinos Bacharoudis specializes in the field of mechanics of composite materials and structural reliability with application to wind turbine rotor blades. He has developed probabilistic analysis methodology starting with the measurement uncertainty for the static and fatigue properties of the composite material and going all the way up to the blade failure probability on a layer by layer basis.
