Abshar graduated with Masters in Technology (M.Tech.) with first-class from SRM University, India. He later joined the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati for pursuing Ph.D. under the supervision of Dr. Lalit M. Pandey and graduated in 2018. His research interests included surface modification, protein adsorption, cell behavior, and tissue engineering. During his Ph.D., Abshar was awarded a prestigious Commonwealth split-site fellowship and worked from 2017-2018 under the supervision of Dr. Aaron Lau, Univ. of Strathclyde, Glasgow. During this period, Abshar worked on the synthesis and immobilization of antimicrobial peptoids for biomedical applications.
Abshar is currently working as a research assistant with Prof. Alvaro Mata at the School of Pharmacy, University of Nottingham, UK. His research focuses on the bio-mineralization of protein membranes and 3D printed scaffolds for enamel and bone regeneration.
