Biography

Katie graduated from Bristol Vet School in 2008 and spent 5 years in mainly mixed and farm animal practice. She completed a PhD at the University of Nottingham's Centre for Evidence-based Veterinary Medicine in 2017, which focussed on the use of clinical audit in farm animal veterinary practice. In 2017 Katie started a residency in anatomic pathology funded by AHDB and MSD Animal Health. She is based at the University of Nottingham Veterinary Pathology Service for half of her time, while the other half is spent working under the supervision of Ben Strugnell at Farm Post Mortems Ltd in County Durham.

Current Research

As part of her MVM Katie is looking at the anatomy and pathology of the Texel sheep larynx, to help advance the current understanding of why these breeds of sheep may be predisposed to laryngeal chondritis.

Past Research

Katie's PhD investigated the use of clinical audit in farm animal veterinary practice. As a result of this, Katie spent a year on the RCVS Knowledge Quality Improvement Advisory Board and helped to develop the online Clinical Audit and Guidelines resources.
