Question Drop

Question Drop is a joint initiative run by the Centre for Evidence Based Healthcare and the Nottingham University Hospital Trust. Each year, we invite hospital colleagues to identify priority clinical questions or problems that would benefit from an up-to-date evidence review.

These questions are dropped into the Centre and matched to a student looking for a dissertation topic. The student then conducts a systematic review on that topic with the support of an academic and clinical supervisor who makes sure the outcomes are rapidly fed back into practice.

It’s an initiative that benefits everyone involved, giving clinicians well-researched answers to their questions and giving students new opportunities to undertake research that directly influences practice.

Making an impact on paediatric care

This year, one of our students, Zainab Suleman, is looking at the evidence on parents’ and carers’ experiences of transitions and aftercare once their child is discharged from paediatric intensive care. Zainab and her supervisor, Dr Joseph Manning, have already had their protocol published and will present their work at the 8th World Congress on Pediatric Intensive and Critical Care.
