Our guest speaker Dr William Howlett will give a presentation on “Neurology in Northern Tanzania” (his textbook “Neurology in Africa” is freely available here), from his 30+ years’ experience as consultant neurologist and physician in Tanzania and other parts of that great continent.
For many years William has taught at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and is well known among many interested in Medicine in low- and middle-income countries. He is based at KCMC in Moshi, Tanzania, a referral centre for 15 million people in the north of the country.
In the first part of his talk, William will speak about Neurological Disorders in Northern Tanzania, with an emphasis on NeuroHIV and its epidemiology in East Africa and beyond. In the second part, he will talk about Konzo and other tropical myeloneuropathies.
