Environmental change raises key concerns in the sustainable management of biological and hydrological assets. Such change is through population growth, global warming and depletion of finite resources, and needs multidisciplinary approaches to tackle.
The research in this RPA falls under five key themes:
- Catchment and coastal processes and management
- Ecosystem change, microevolution and extinction processes
- Crop production and the agricultural economy
- Climate history
- Disease and environment
With issues as vital as flood and erosion risk, climate change, crop production and the spread of infectious disease as the focus of our work, we believe that we can have an enormous impact on the lives of millions of people across the world. The work that we undertake can inform government policy, lead to new technologies and alter the fabric of our societies to take into account changing environments.
