Biography

Mohamed Ismaeel Maricar was born in Nagapattinam, India in 1988. He received a B.Eng degree in Electronics and communication engineering from the Sathyabama University,India in 2009, MSc degree in Microwave Engineering and wireless subsystem design from the University of Surrey, UK in 2010 and a PhD degree in Microwave integrated circuits from the De Montfort University, K, in 2014. Currently he is working as a Research fellow within the George Green Institute for Electromagnetic Research at the University of Nottingham, UK.

Dr.Mohamed Ismaeel Maricar research work has spanned a large number of area in RF and Microwave devices and circuits. It includes microstrip antenna, waveguide, Gunn diodes, resonators, filters and channel sounder. Recently Mohamed Ismaeel has been involved with electrical equivalent circuits model for GaAs/InP planar Gunn diode structure and THz antenna design for broadband communication and energy harvesting

Expertise Summary

I have around seven years of experience in electromagnetic, including high frequency antennas and circuits design

  1. Have hands on experience in handling tools such as ADS, FEKO, ANSYS, HFSS, CST, AWR, MATLAB etc.
  2. Have designed many antennas from low frequency to high frequency and also designed different types of couplers and resonator at high frequency.
  3. Gained hands on experience with vector network analyser (10 MHz to 325 GHz), high frequency measurements, spectrum analyser (10 MHz to 125 GHz), oscillator, signal generator, RF amplifier, electron microscope, multi meter and experience of working in anechoic and reverberation chamber.
  4. Have excellent problem solving and communication skills with particular emphasis on clear, detailed project requirements and its functional specifications.
  5. Have hands on experience in fabrications technology.

Current Research

Currently Mohamed Ismaeel is working with a multidisciplinary research team on an EU Horizon 2020 - funded project entitled" Noisy Electromagnetic Fields - a Technological Platform for Chip-to-Chip Communication in the 21st Century (NEMF21)". This is an interdisciplinary project and collaboration between University of Nottingham, the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis, the Technical University Munich, the Institut Supérieur de l'Aeronautique & de l'Espace,Toulouse, IMST GmbH, Germany, NXP Semi-conductors and CST AG, Germany. The central aim of the project is to provide design tools for wireless Chip-to-Chip (C2C) communication, an important future technology.
