Seminar: MARCO study: MRI of whole gut transit time in newly diagnosed coeliac disease

Location
D Floor, Medical School, NDDC Seminar Room, Nottingham, QMC, West Block
Date(s)
Friday 16th February 2018 (13:00-14:00)
Description

Speaker: Carolyn Costigan, Principal Research Radiographer NUH and PhD candidate NDDC

Recent MRI work has developed and validated against radiopaque markers a method to measure whole gut transit time (WGTT) exploiting MRI to localize inert, transit marker capsules. We used this new non-invasive MRI method to measure WGTT in a group of recently diagnosed coeliac patients and compare their WGTT to a group of healthy controls. These novel measurements may provide a useful new method to follow up the response to gluten free diet treatment.
