Human-Machine Interface design for cultural differences

A range of cultural factors are relevant to the design of Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) for in-vehicle systems. These may relate to the culture of driving, the culture of technology and also possibly the culture of participation in Human Factors research.

This project aims to understand the role of these cultural factors, by comparing results of an HMI study across the UK and Chine. The University of Nottingham Human Factors driving simulator will be set up in China within the Ningbo campus in order to allow data to be collected using participants from both countries.

This project is sponsored by a major vehicle manufacturer (February 2013 - December 2013). For more information, please contact Dr Gary Burnett.
