The group has excellent facilities for experimental work including approximately 2500m2 of research space and a construction and testing capability up to 1MW.

Recent investments have enhanced the laboratory and workshop equipment to include (for example):

  • environmental chambers
  • X-ray tomography facilities
  • wire electrical discharge machining
  • power device packaging facilities and programmable ac sources (270kVA).

This facility will be further supplemented with a multiport, scaled (medium voltage) VSC-HVDC test facility.
