Biography

I am an Associate Professor in Global Health, with a background in medical anthropology and public health. My research is focused on migration, ethnicity, and health, with specific interest in infectious diseases, mental health, gender, health policy, and wider disparities in access to care and health outcomes. I have methodological expertise in qualitative and quantitative methods, systematic reviews, and a strong interest in participatory research methods, cross-language methods, and patient and public involvement and engagement. In addition to this role, I am also a member of the American Public Health Association Caucus for Refugee and Immigrant Health, and the UK Expert Consortium on Migrant Health.

Expertise Summary

I am currently carrying out research focused on the impact of COVID-19 on migrant and ethnic minority communities (UKRI/NIHR - UK-REACH Study), the use of creative-based approaches for mental health promotion in communities from migrant backgrounds (UKRI - DREAM Project), antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and migration (Academy of Medical Sciences - EMERGE Project), and opportunities to improve engagement with forced migrants in the NHS (NIHR).
